Friday, May 13, 2016 @ 0900 CDT: With nothing to chase yesterday, we spent our day enjoying several points of interest in Kansas. The specific spots that we hit were as follows:
- World's Largest Ball of Twine, Cawker City, KS: http://www.kansastravel.org/balloftwine.htm
- Garden of Eden, Lucas, KS: http://www.garden-of-eden-lucas-kansas.com/
- World's Largest Collection of World's Smallest Versions of World's Largest Things Traveling Roadside Attraction and Museum, Lucas, KS: http://www.kansastravel.org/worldslargestcollection.htm
Then we headed back to Salina, KS, for the night, and had even MORE fantastic barbecue at Hog Wild BBQ! (http://www.hogwildpitbbq.com/)
Oh, and if you're interested, you can see some pictures from our tourist-style day HERE (https://kingkey.smugmug.com/TornadoChase/Chase-2016/2016May12/).
As for today, it's possible that we may have something to chase in southeastern Kansas and/or Missouri. It still looks to me like more of a wind and hail situation rather than tornadoes, but on the next-to-last day of Tour 1, that might still be worth going for! Will this setup be worthwhile, or will we continue being tourists? Find out later... after I find out myself! Have a great Friday the 13th, everybody!
