Thursday, May 22, 2014 @ 0900 MDT: We had a great time chasing around the Denver airport yesterday. (See some pictures HERE.) We suspect that there was at least one tornado near us, but if so, it was rain-wrapped and almost impossible to see. Even so, there was impressive structure. (The bad part was the chaser convergence... and LOTS of traffic.)
In any case, looking to today's chase, I am not as impressed with the forecast this morning as I had hoped to be. It doesn't look like a tornado is terribly likely for us, but I'll still keep my fingers crossed anyway. And it looks like the area of interest will start leading us southward, toward the area of interest for the next few days: eastern New Mexico / western Texas.
Here's yesterday's travel map:
Thursday, May 22, 2014 @ 1215 MDT: We have left Burlington, CO now (along with the aroma that accompanies it *lol*) and are heading south. If we happen upon any interesting weather along the way, we'll go check it out, but in general, we're just moving south for possible chases in Texas & New Mexico during the coming days. For example, here's the probabilistic forecast map for tomorrow:
