Saturday, May 11 @ 0900 CDT: Well, yesterday we headed to the US/Mexico border --- specifically, just south of Eagle Pass, TX --- to watch and wait for a couple of cells that were in Mexico to hopefully develop and cross into the US. Unfortunately, they never really materialized, so we abandoned them and headed back to the northeast for an active cell that was approaching Pearsall, TX. It looked *really* good, and as we were trying to catch up with it, it was obvious that it had dumped an unbelievable amount of large hail over a widespead area. The tree shear was over the largest area I think I've ever seen!

Anyway, we could never catch up to the cell because it was moving so fast (as fast as 44 knots, I think it was), so eventually we had to break off the chase. All in all, though, not a bad day. You can see a few pictures from the day HERE.

So now we're in San Antonio, and I have just heard that we will be spending tonight here as well. (...which means I don't have to pack this morning... Woooohooooo!!!) Clearly, we are switching into "tourist mode" now, given the prognostications for the next few days.

Here's yesterday's travel map:
