Sunday, May 17, 2015 @ 0840 CDT: We made it from the dreaded G-town in northwestern Kansas all the way down to Texas and the western part of Oklahoma just in time to see the cells that were popping up southeast of Amarillo and moving northeast. The cells were really moving fast, so we figured they were going to be really tough to keep up with. As it turned out, they all ended up congealing into a long line of mush, and of the tornadoes that were reported, we didn't see any of them. *sigh* There **was** a suspicious-looking cloud along the way, though. *lol* You can see a few random shots from the day HERE... including a full Tour 1 group photo!
Anyway, Tour 1 is now over, and we say our fond farewells to our friends from that tour... and a hearty welcome to the chasers who will be with us on Tour 2!
So for today's plan, unless somebody has invented the Star Trek transporter, I just don't see us making it to Michigan today. Instead, it looks more likely that we will start drifting down into Texas, positioning ourselves for chasing there in the coming days.
Sunday, May 17, 2015 @ 2030 CDT: With nothing within reach on the first day of Tour 2 today, we moved to Childress, TX, and will hopefully be able to chase tomorrow.
Here's the travel map for the day:
