Friday, May 9, 2014 @ 0900 CDT: Well, yesterday's chase was a bust, plain and simple... with nothing of interest other than some pea-sized hail along the way. Even so, we're all still buzzing about the show that Mother Nature put on for us on Wednesday, so no biggie. Anyway, here's the link to some pictures from yesterday.
For today, it looks to be a Missouri and/or Arkansas chase day. No, the chances aren't great, and the chase territory could be better, but what the hell! You have no chance of seeing anything if you don't chase it, right?
Looking ahead, we should be able to swing by Norman, OK tomorrow and get John's vehicle back, and then Sunday is looking pretty promising for Oklahoma and Kansas!
...and before I forget it, here's yesterday's travel map:
Friday, May 9, 2014 @ 1215 CDT: -- UPDATE-- No chase today after all. Conditions are worse now, and farther northeast, so today will be a dual-purpose day for us. Most of the group will stay in Joplin and look at damage (and recovery) from the devastating tornado here three years ago. I am headed back to Norman with John and Charles, and we will retrieve John's truck. Then we'll head back to Joplin and regroup.
