Sunday, May 1, 2016 @ 0630 CDT: Yesterday's trip to OKC was somewhat difficult, to say the least, but I made it! Here are the details:
- 0515 EDT: Begin boarding for 6:00 departure.
- 0535 EDT: We are told that due to bad weather in the Houston area, our departure has been rescheduled for 7:15. Everybody is asked to leave the plane and return to the waiting area for reboarding later.
- 0635 EDT: Reboarding begins.
- 0705 EDT: We are informed that air traffic control has rescheduled us to wait an additional 1:45, so passengers are offered an opportunity to deplane once again if they feel tha they would prefer it.
- 0840 EDT: Flight finally takes off. We are informed that air traffic control has rerouted our flight vector to take us over Arkansas and then south into Houston, which will take approximately 45 minutes longer than our original route.
- 0900 EDT: Our captain now says that we have been approved for our original route, so maybe I'll catch my connecting flight after all. So much for my plan to eat at PAPPADEAUX, though... A three-hour layover wasn't enough! *smh*
- 1000 EDT: WAIT A MINUTE! I totally forgot about the time change from EDT to CDT! I **will** have time for PAPPADEAUX! Woooohooooo!!!
- 1125 CDT: The crawfish etouffee was fantastic, as always, and then I tried the Turtle Brownie Pie. It defeated me. (...but it is SOOOOO decadent!) Then I still just barely made it to my connecting flight in time to head to OKC. My stomach is SOOOOO HAPPY, though!
- 1310 CDT: Back in Oklahoma City... Life is good!!!
I'll post a few pictures from yesterday as time allows...
So now we're on to our first day of Tour 1. It's a small group -- only seven of us, including Charles and John -- but I'm sure it will be a fun group and a good time, especially when we see some good storms!
With that in mind, today's outlook looks marginal, but better than the next couple of days. We're up early, planning to hit the road and head south. Where, exactly? Only time will tell!
