Tuesday, May 13, 2014 @ 0900 CDT: During yesterday's chase, we chased into Iowa... and then into Illinois... and got some really nice structure and thought we might have a chance at seeing a tornado, but it wasn't meant to be. Here are some photos.
We ended up spending the night in Davenport, Iowa (and many thanks to those of you who knew it was in Iowa... not Illinois... *lol*) and are getting ready to pack up and see what the plans are for today. It looks like today might end up being a travel day, but I'll have to wait and see what Charles has up his sleeve.
Here's the SPC's vision of today and tomorrow:
...and here's yesterday's travel map:
Tuesday, May 13, 2014 @ 1200 CDT: It looks like we're headed to Paducah, KY, of all places (or at least that vicinity). Bill Kassebaum, get ready for Cloud 9 Tours to invade your work territory! *lol*
Tuesday, May 13, 2014 @ 2200 CDT: It was a L-O-N-G travel day, with us moving from Davenport, Iowa to Paducah, Kentucky. Hopefully conditions will cooperate tomorrow and we'll see some great storms. To be honest, though, I am not terribly optimistic -- essentially due to difficult chase territory and a pretty marginal risk -- but I REALLY hope I'm wrong!
For now, though, here are a few simple shots from our travel day. And here's our daily travel map:
