Space Safety is an important topic as humanity expands its ability to access space.
Here are a few of my thoughts on the subject of LEO and Cis lunar developments coming into real possibilities as of Aug 2024.
As space becomes more accessible to now even private companies a policy for something akin to the life guards like the “RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution - Saving Lives at Sea” should be a global priority along with global responsibility for removing space junk.
Crew Dragon has a fully implemented Androgynous Peripheral Attach System that can be used with Starliner as well as the ISS, but I believe not to the Chinese Space Station.
Also an interoperation spacesuit specification is important, the issue here being the importance to keep developing different ideas as humanity progresses is very important, as NASA well knows reliance on just one system can stifle yet some sort of universal space life jacket implementation should be a important step for human safety in space. Work for an escape capsule lifeboat has been looked into and is well known in science fiction.
Hope you find these thoughts of interest.
Have a great day.
