RD-191

The RD-191 Engine is being developed in Russia by the famous Energomash with its revolutionary RD-170 (built for Energia Heavy Lift Rocket) and it half sized RD-180 built for the American Atlas rockets.

The RD-191 is a high performance single-combustion chamber rocket engine.

As with the older RD-170 and the RD-180 design the RD-191 is fueled by a kerosene / LOX mixture and uses an oxygen-rich staged combustion cycle using LOX and RP-1.

RD-191M engine

During the 2010s, NPO Energomash was working on the RD-191M engine, which was intended for the Angara-5 and Angara-5V rockets. The engine was test-fired in 2016, reaching 110 percent above the thrust of the original variant.
