Russia joined the USA in constructing the ISS

The first Module of the ISS was the Russian Zarya Module originally designed as the replacement for their Mir Space Station.

launched by a Proton rocket on 20 November 1998.

Russia sent Soyuz TM-31 with the First ever Crew call 'Expedition 1' to Reside on Station arriving at the ISS on 2nd November 2000

Cosmonauts Yuri Gidzenko and Sergei Krikalev along with NASA Astronaut Bill Shepherd becoming the first crew to reside onboard the fledgling ISS station, staying several months. It was the beginning of an uninterrupted human presence on the station.

Latest addition to the Russian segment of the ISS is the Nauka module docked with the ISS on 29 July 2021
