MCT (ITS)

Mars Colonial Transporter (MCT) now called Interplanetary Transport System (ITS)

Elon Musk said the capability of the MCT design will be much more than needed for Mars why he changed its name to Interplanetary Transport System (ITS) as it could also reach other possible Habitable destinations such as The Moon, Venus, the asteroid Ceres, and outer Solar System moons such as Saturn's moons Enceladus and Titan also Jupiter's moons Callisto and Europa.

This fully reusable system will be able to economically transport 100 metric tons (220,462 lbs) of cargo or 100 people to the surface of Mars. (Elon Musk hopes to enlarged it to carry 200+)

Using the BFR reusable Heavy Lift rocket with its Raptor engines.

Small ITS

At a keynote speech on the 9th of July 2017 Elon announced that befor the full ITS is defined SpaceX are looking to build a more financially viable near term smaller version of the ITS that will be for LEO and Moon base support, Full details to be announced in September 2017 at the annual IAC meeting in Adelaide.
