511 Davida

Davida is approximately 270–310 km in diameter and comprises an estimated 1.5% of the total mass of the asteroid belt. It is a C-type asteroid, which means that it is dark in colouring with a carbonaceous chondrite composition.

Minerals that can be found in asteroids are: iron, nickel, iridium, palladium, platinum, gold, and magnesium to name a few. Metal, however, is not the only thing that would be mined from asteroids. There is a certain interest in the mining of water.

Davida – diameter 326 kilometres – is said to be worth $26,990,000,000,000,000,000 ($27 quintillion) because of its content of nickel, iron, cobalt, nitrogen, ammonia, and hydrogen.

Davida's north pole faces the camera, so only the northern hemisphere of the rock is visible. At least two flat facets can be seen on its surface. Dark features may be impact craters, some other sort of surface markings, or artifacts of image processing.
