2015 TG387

2015 TG387, a object in the far outer solar system, way beyond Pluto.

The dwarf planet nicknamed “The Goblin” is about 190 miles in diameter based on preliminary measurements.

2015 TG387 loops around the sun on an extremely elliptical path, coming within about 65 astronomical units (AU) of the sun at its closest point (known as perihelion) and getting about 2,300 AU away at its most distant (aphelion). Its orbit means that it only travels around the Sun once every 40,000 years.

It is what's known as a “Trans-Neptunian Objects,” that live beyond the orbit of Neptune.

Excitingly, The Goblin's movements fit into previous theories regarding a possible “Planet X” hiding far away in our solar system, and could help astronomers to find it.
