The biggest upgrade is its ability of Dragon 2 having a IDSS-compatible docking port to dock to the International Docking Adapter ports on ISS, enabling to perform fully autonomous rendezvous and docking instead of the berthing port that V1 berthed to the ISS requiring manual use of the Canada arm by ISS personnel.

Another improvement is its new solar panel system that does not require on orbit deployment.
