India's Space station project is called Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS)
The first Module BAS-1 is paned to fly NET December 2028
The development marks an important milestone towards the operationalisation of India’s own space station by 2035 and paves the way for a crewed moon mission by 2040.
The planned space station could weigh up to 52 tonnes .
Its planned orbit is approximately 400 kilometres above the Earth, at an inclination of 51.6°
When complete it should be capable to support two to four astronauts for up to a maximum stay of 3-6 months.
On 30 December 2024 ISRO launched a twin " SpaDeX" spacecraft to test out Docking in Space,
The SpaDeX docking demonstation is expected to take place in early 2025 while the Target and Chaser spacecraft fly in low Earth orbit 290 miles (470 kilometers) above Earth.
The docking test is a critical test ready for not just BAS but also for the planed Moon landing sample and return mission Chandrayaan-4 and eventual human Moon landing by 2040.
