Project Status NET : Q4 of 2024 or 2025.

ISRO are pushing to accelerate their first uncrewed test flight of their human rated Gaganyaan spacecraft to late 2020 so as to facilitate India's first human mission into space by 2023(was 2021).

The mission will carry a three-member "Vyomnaut" (Vyom means space in Sanskrit) crew into space for at least seven days, a plan Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced in his Independence day speech earlier this year. It'll make us the fourth nation to put humans into space, after Russia, the US, and China. The launch will be carried out from the Sriharikota space port in Andhra Pradesh.

There will however be two manned flights before the main shot to orbit, likely as tests. The first of those is currently slated to launch as early as within two years. The popular GSLV Mk III three-stage rocket will be used to lift Gaganyaan into orbit, and the operation will be a collaborative effort between ISRO and other national agencies.
