The Great Drakon

The Great Drakon is a beast that was created by Deus Ex Machina thousands of years ago in an attempt to gain favor from The Gods. This was immediately after Alexandros, who was (supposed to be) the last Man of Light and Shadow had the Shadow Spirit extracted and shelved by The Gods. Since the planet Melzac's primary purpose was to host a large academy where students from all over the South Galaxy could learn and practice magic (though Shadow Magic was reserved for the Man of Light and Shadow), the Gods expressed suspicion that someone could travel to Melzac, take control of the planet, and learn Shadow Magic that way. Attempting to redeem himself in the eyes of The Gods, Deus Ex Machina used his powers to create the Great Drakon, a colossal dragon with a wingspan half the size of the planet in order to destroy the planet. Almost as soon as it was created, the Great Drakon burst forth from the ground, creating a volcano that would dominate the surface of the planet forever. The Great Drakon flew to the top of the volcano, which became its roost (known as the Dragon's Crown). Almost immediately, the volcano erupted, severely damaging the Melzac Academy and killing all of Melzac's sentient inhabitants. Since the inhabitants of Melzac were killed by a being whose entire existence was unsanctioned by The Gods, their souls were not allowed to go to the Nether Realm. Instead, they were left to wander the planet as ghosts. Though the Gods were relieved that Melzac's Academy was rendered pretty much inaccessible, they were still angry at Deus Ex Machina because he used genocide as a means to do it. The Great Drakon also possessed the ability to conjure new beings out of thin air: Draconians. The Draconians are essentially anthropomorphic dragons, but since they are also unsanctioned by The Gods, they and anyone killed by them will wander the Physical Realm as a ghost after death. These Draconian Soldiers protect the planet from any who attempt to take it and its vast sources of knowledge from the Great Drakon. Thousands of years later, the evil Tate sent 3 legions to attempt to subjugate the planet and learn its secrets, but these were soon defeated in The Atheneum by the Draconians and forced to abandon the invasion. A few years later, Weasel, having been sent by The Gods to learn the planet's secrets, was able to use the planet's ghosts to help him defeat the Draconian Army and reach the Dragon's Crown, where he tested his mettle against the Great Drakon. After a long fight, The Great Drakon proved to be too much for even Weasel to take down, and the two agreed to a truce: Weasel would keep his life and the knowledge he gained while on Melzac, but would have to leave immediately and never bother the Great Drakon or the Draconians ever again. The Great Drakon remains the ruler of Melzac's ruins to this day.
