Prince Lane of the North

Lane was born on Ryu 108 about 15 years before Rhys's Invasion of Aurea. Next in line for the throne, Lane was kidnapped at age two by Tate and inducted into The Cabal. He was then forced into training under Tate to be the strongest warrior from Ryu 108. Tate then decided to use Lane as an assassin, sending him out to do some of his dirty work. Lane accompanied Lord Ombra to Aurea at age 20 under the guise of Hans von Franz. Due to the constraints on his fighting style caused by the temporary vampire transformation, Lane was eventually defeated by Ryan and forced to leave the planet. Lane was then punished by Tate for his failure by being forced to sit out the Squidian Campaign. Tate allowed Lane to attack Aztlan with him, but kept his role to a small one to make sure he wouldn't botch the mission. Lane ended up never encountering Weasel and his friends directly, but he was responsible for poisoning Yaxche, the Spirit of Aztlan. Lane then returned to his home planet of Ryu 108, where he kidnapped his younger brother, King Ragnar Lothbrok, and baited Weasel and his friends into a trap he set in The Ulvskog. Unfortunately for Lane, Weasel and his friends overcame the trap and forced Lane out of the Ulvskog. He later fought with Tate against Weasel and his friends in Nastrond before being defeated along with the rest of Tate's warlords. For his failure, Tate punished Lane by not allowing him to either go to Awal Kabab with him. After a long chain of events on Awal Kabab, Tate seized control of the Aurean government and its empire, along with forcing Weasel into exile. Having done nothing but disgrace Tate, Lane sought to make it up to him by becoming a pro-Tate vigilante, independent of The Cabal. He captured numerous fighters from the Aurean Alliance (the rebellion led by Ryan in the northeastern corner of the galaxy) and turned them into the Tatian Authorities. He became a living legend among the Tatian Military, which both loved and feared him. Eventually, Lane began having thoughts that maybe helping Tate was useless and he should just join the Aureans. However, Tate rediscovered Lane with the help of his military and proudly reintroduced him to The Cabal. Tate then tasked Lane with joining Crazy Campbell in hunting Weasel across the galaxy. When Lane was unsuccessful in capturing him (though he came close on Olympia), he returned to Caput Tatiium to defend the planet against Tate. However, he failed to defend control of the Hawkaida Tribe from Weasel and his friends, making Tate so angry that he used Astral Lightning to electrocute Lane upon hearing the news. Although it did not kill Lane, the fact that his supposedly loyal master would do this to him prompted Lane to run off and join Weasel and his friends. He eventually met up with them in the Arctic, where they grudgingly accepted him into their group. Lane helped them rally the Arctic Tribes against Tate and summon the Great Spirit, which took Weasel and his friends to Tate's Castle. Lane fought with them against Tate's warlords and tried to sway them to Weasel's cause at first, but could not because they were simply too far gone. One Tate's warlords were gone, Lane helped out in the fight against Tate by hitting him hard enough to force the Shadow Spirit out of his body. After the war, Lane became King of Ryu 108 (since that post was left vacant by Ragnar Lothbrok's death in the Battle of Ryu 97). At some point he had a son named Eldgrim, who in turn had two grandchildren named Ulf and Herkja. Lane is still alive, but is now incredibly old (82 years old).
