Book 10 Plot

It has been 19 years since Tate has taken control of most of the known galaxy. He rules with an iron fist, crushing all those who oppose him. However, 17 years ago, a revolt broke out in the northeastern portion of the galaxy called the Aurean Alliance, a group of some of Weasel’s old friends and allies that have been liberating planets and striking at Tate wherever he is weakest. However, Tate has recently sent a fleet of over 1 million starships to this northeastern portion of the galaxy, causing a number of Aurean planets to be retaken by Tate. In desperation, Ryan went into the archives on the rebel base on Anzial and found the TURDIS that Weasel and his friends used to travel to Awal Kabab 19 years before. He punched in the word “Weasel” on the keypad, but seemingly nothing happened. However, far away on the backwater planet of Arturia, Weasel’s Sword, in the possession of a knight named Sir Terry Gilliam, glows bright red. The young knight, in utter shock, hastily builds a space probe with instructions from Michael, who he was friends with. He sends the space probe directly to Morgan, who was a very well-known ally of Weasel on Arturia due to her past training under King Arturius. About a day and a half later, the probe arrives on Gol Gaetha, where Morgan is leading an army against Tate. When she reads the message, she puts Kira in charge of the mission on Gol Gaetha and goes to Anzial, where she meets up with Ryan, who has already found Taftenkhamun, who is working on getting the Pa-Ankh flightworthy again. Ryan then says that the Pa-Ankh only has enough rations for 6 people, so they can only bring 3 more people. Ryan suggests that Morgan should go get Cole and Shelby, who are leading a campaign on the nearby planet of Shleem. Morgan then tells Ryan to get Nate, who is defending New Aztlan, a fortress the Aurean Alliance built on the ruins of what was once Aztlan. When Ryan arrives on Shleem, he tells Cole and Shelby the news, and they immediately transfer control of the Shleem Campaign to Maxwell and join Ryan. Meanwhile, Morgan convinces Nate to leave the defense of New Aztlan to Reshon. Once these 6 of Weasel’s old friends are assembled, they set out for Arturia. When they land, they end up in a campsite called Camp Caliburn inhabited by a few knights. They talk to the first knight they see, an injured knight named Sir Carson Cook, if he knows who this “Sir Terry Gilliam” is. Sir Carson says that unless his injury is cured by some miracle, he will surely die. He says there is an old witch out on the High Road named Boudicca who can cure his injuries. When Ryan and his friends arrive on the High Road, they are immediately attacked by a gang of Night Goblins, which they manage to kill without much trouble. When they get to Boudicca, they say that in order to prepare a cure, she needs to know which Froudling wounded him. When Cole asks what a Froudling is, she explains that long ago, a rogue knight named Sir Michael Jones, under the leadership of Tate, took over Arturia from Weasel and King Arturius. He led an army called the Froudlings, and those Froudlings now have control over Arturia. However, there were no reports of the death of either Weasel or Arturius, and one

day Weasel and King Arturius will return, and the Froudlings will be no more. Also, the goblins that just attacked them are Froudlings. Ryan and his friends then report back to Sir Carson Cook, who explains that the Froudling who injured him was a dragon called Caoranach the Fire-Spitter. They then report back to Boudicca, who says they will need a little of Caoranach’s venom for the cure. They then enter Caoranach’s cave, where they are immediately attacked by him and five much smaller dragons that are Caoranach’s children. Morgan deals with Caoranach while Ryan, Shelby, Nate, Cole, and Taftenkhamun each fight one of Caoranach’s children. They all end up killing their assigned dragon after lengthy duels, with no major injuries. However, Shelby managed to tame her dragon instead of killing it, and named it Steve. Once Morgan collects the venom sample from Caoranach’s body, she gives it to Boudicca, who says it needs some garlic to convert it to its healing form. Ryan and his friends return to Camp Caliburn and ask around for some garlic, until they find a priest named Father John who grows it in his garden near Arturia Abbey. He then shows Ryan and his friends to Abbey Road, where the abbey is located, and picks some garlic for them to use. They then report back to Boudicca, who brews the garlic and venom into a cure to use on Sir Carson Cook. When they return to Camp Caliburn, they find Carson nearly dead, but he is immediately cured when they pour the cure on his wounds. Sir Carson Cook then tells them that Sir Terry Gilliam lives in a shack on the High Road not too far from Caoranach’s Cave. When they find Sir Terry Gilliam, they ask him if he knows where the Sword of Caliber is. He says that he entrusted the sword with a knight named Lady Olivia, but she was captured by a rogue knight named Sir Richard Campbell. Terry says that they can challenge this knight if they ring the bell outside his tower, but if they lose they will spend the rest of their lives in his dungeon. When they ring the bell, Richard tells Ryan and his friends to come inside and fight him, and if they win, they will be allowed to free Lady Olivia. However, if they lose, they too will be locked in his dungeon. When they enter, they charge into battle against Richard and his five other knights. Everyone ends up winning their duel, however, Cole is injured with a sword slash to the left leg. Once Sir Richard Campbell surrenders, he gives Ryan the key to the dungeons downstairs. However, at the bottom of the dungeon, they find an Ogre named Mike and a Donkey named Eddie guarding the dungeon. Once these two are defeated by Cole and Nate, Ryan uses the dungeon key to free Lady Olivia along with another knight named Sir Aurelian Ambrose. Lady Olivia then says she recognizes Ryan and his friends from somewhere, and then reveals that she is the reincarnation of the Olivia that died for them on Awal Kabab all those years ago. When Nate asks why she keeps getting reincarnated so many times, she explains that years ago, during her first life on Aztlan, a shadow magician conducted a dark experiment on her that led to her being reincarnated every time she dies. They then take Olivia and Ambrose to Camp Caliburn, where Olivia says that before she went off to fight Sir Richard Campbell, she gave the Sword of Caliber to her friend Sir Terrance Thornwhip, who took it beyond the city of Caerbannog and into the Eirewood. Lady Olivia also says she has a map of the Eirewood, but it is in her estate in the city of Caerbannog. However, a bridge blocks the entrance to Caerbannog and is guarded by the rogue knight named Sir Agravaine, but Sir Agravaine will not face those who are not at least the rank of Squire. Morgan then realizes that that even though she was a Knight of the Square Table in the past, she has misplaced her papers and would need to be re-certified. Lady Olivia then tells Ryan and his friends to ask Father John about a Squireship. He tells them to go to the High Road and fight some Cawr Giants who have stolen the sword and shield on the First Shrine of Chivalry. After they kill around seven of these giants, they find the sword and shield and reattach them to the shrine before reporting back to Father John, who rewards all four of them with Squireship. They then head out to the bridge between High Road and Caerbannog and challenge Sir Agravaine, who agrees to fight them after he sees their Squireship papers. Even though the fight was 5v1, it was considerably harder than Sir Richard Campbell due to Agravaine’s skill at working around his opponents’ defenses and temporarily crippling them with slashes to the leg. Eventually, Cole is the only man left standing and manages to impale Agravaine while the latter is distracted by Steve’s fire breath. Once Agravaine is dealt with, they report back to Lady Olivia, who tells them to look for someone named Vicar Salemon, who was made steward of Olivia’s estate while she was gone. When Ryan and his friends arrive in Caerbannog and talk to Vicar, he says the city was attacked by goblin hordes and Lady Olivia’s estate was broken into. He agrees to look for the map if Ryan and his friends rough up some Hobgoblins and find Lady Olivia’s armor and shield. Once they bring these back to Vicar, he realizes that the goblins have vandalized them and demands that they are taken to Ashley, the town’s arms painter. When they find Ashley, they discover that she is the same Ashley they helped years ago on Ryu 108, who says that she came out here years ago to fight in the Battle of Loch Nimue, but was stranded here when her ship was destroyed in the battle. She says if they want her help, they will need to find Delaney, who they also met on Ryu 108 and was separated from Ashley in the Froudling attack. She tells them to look for her friend, Beetle the Minstrel. When they find him, he is singing this: “Bravely bold Sir Robin rode forth from Caerbannog. He was not afraid to die, o brave Sir Robin! He was not at all afraid, to be killed in nasty ways. Brave, brave, brave Sir Robin! He was not in the least bit scared, to have his head smashed in and his heart cut out and his liver removed and his bowels unplugged and his nostrils raped and his bottom burnt off and his penis split and his…” when they interrupt him and ask him about Delaney. He says she was kidnapped by hobgoblins during the attack on the city, and tells them to rough up some hobgoblins for information. Once they do this, the hobgoblins tell them Delaney is in the archives. Once they rescue her from an angry goblin, they return her to Ashley, who says she wants to leave Caerbannog with Delaney and join the knights in Abbey Road. However, they are forced to retrieve her paints from an angry band of goblins before she can leave. Once they do this, she says that there is a book in the Archives that tells them how to restore King Arturius’s teleporter arch to Camp Caliburn. They then return to the Archives, fight off some more goblins, and collect the book. They then activate it, which allows them to return to Camp Caliburn instantly if they need to do so. Delaney and Ashley then repaint Lady Olivia’s sword and shield before walking through the arch to Camp Caliburn. Ryan and his friends then return to Vicar, who has found the map of the Eirewood and hands it to them. Vicar then tells them to return to Camp Caliburn with Lady Olivia’s weapons and tell Father John of their deeds. Lady Olivia gladly accepts the sword and shield, and Father John promotes Ryan and his friends from Squires to Armigers. He then tells them to go back to Caerbannog and meditate at the Shrine to Hospitality to ensure they are worthy of Armigership. Once they do this, Ryan and his friends head out the city’s north gate into The Wild, the part of the Eirewood where Sir Terrance Thornwhip is. When they arrive at Terrance’s cottage, they find his wife, Lady Greensleeves there. She says that Terrance was abducted by a group of Owl Witches and brought to the top of the nearby White Owl Tower. In the main courtyard, they are attacked by an owl witch named Catherine Blacktalon who is dealt with by Morgan. When they try to enter the actual tower, they find the entrance locked. However, a unicorn in a prison cell in the courtyard says that the password is “Hello Amora”. She then says she will teach them some Astral Magic if they free her once they get the key from upstairs. At the top of the tower, they all begin to feel very drowsy and realize that the room was filled with a vapor that will kill them if they fall asleep. They then see a bunch of differently-colored potions on a table and realize that this is a potion riddle. However, Nate uses the wrong potion and the drowsiness intensifies as another owl named Kayla Blacktalon and three hobgoblins appear out of thin air and attack them. While Nate, Cole, Morgan, and Ryan are fighting these new arrivals off, Shelby, Steve, and Taftenkhamun eventually find and use the correct potion, which clears the vapor from the room and cures everyone of their drowsiness. However, this causes another owl named Keeva Blacktalon to appear and attack Shelby, Steve, and Taftenkhamun. Once both owls and the goblins are gone, the key to Sir Terrance Thornwhip’s cell magically appears on the potion table. They then free Terrance and return to the courtyard, where they use the same key to free the unicorn and learn its Astral Magic. They then return to Terrance’s cottage, where Terrance says he gave the Sword of Caliber to Sir Robin the Brave in the nearby Lightning Elf Village. However, when Ryan and his friends go to the Lightning Elf Village, they find the place completely frozen over with no sign of Sir Robin the Brave. They ask an elf named Roidh Stormhilt if he knows anything, and all he says is that the Froudlings were scared that the elves would help the Knights of the Square Table, so they unleashed a dragon called the Winter Wyrm on them. They ask Roidh about Sir Robin, and he says that he was probably taken under the ice, where the dragon dwells. He says if they help him melt the ice, they could be able to find him. He tells them to get some living embers from the Fountain of Flame nearby. However, they find it empty and hear someone crying nearby. When they go to investigate, they find someone named Kiara Ashbury saying her family honor has been ruined because her brother, a knight named Sir Brimley was defeated by a giant named Lugh Morrigan and had the family shield stolen. When they go to Caerbannog to ask Sir Brimley to give the giant a second go, he refuses and half-jokingly suggests that Kiara do it herself. In response, she suggest that Ryan and his friends slay the giant and collect the armor. Once Lugh is killed by Taftenkhamun, they take the armor to Kiara, who immediately dons the armor. As soon as this happens, the Fountain of Flame lights itself, allowing them to take an ember back to Roidh. Roidh says that this will do, but to break the curse on the village would require them to slay the Winter Wyrm. He says they need magic shoes to traverse the icy pathway, but there is a leprechaun named Seamus O’Reilly nearby who specializes in such things. Seamus says that he can make them shoes, provided they gather the ingredients. They fight some Wildfire Ents to get nails, then some Red Caps for some other materials. Once they have the shoes, they return to Roidh, who tells them where the Winter Wyrm is. Once they enter the Winter Wyrm’s cave, they immediately go after the dragon, which, after a long battle, is eventually killed by Morgan. Once the Winter Wyrm is killed, they release the living ember into the air, which removes the layer of frost from the village, unfreezing a knight who happens to be none other than Sir Robin the Brave. He tells them to activate The Wild’s teleporter arch to Camp Caliburn, saying they can discuss the Sword of Caliber more openly there. Once in Camp Caliburn, Sir Robin says he sent it out of The Wild, thinking the Eirewood is too dangerous for it. He says it wound up in the possession of his loyal friend, Beetle the Minstrel. Ryan and his friends then return to Caerbannog and ask Beetle the Minstrel about the sword, where they find he is missing. After defeating and interrogating some rogue knights, they learn that he hiding in a house owned by a Knight of the Square Table named Sir Jean-Baptiste. When they go to Jean-Baptiste, however, he throws various insults and taunts at them and refuses to let them into his house. They are forced to sneak into the house that night to find Beetle the Minstrel, who says he dropped the bag containing the sword in The Wild while running from Froudlings. He says it landed near a fairy by the name of Cailyn Taylor. Cailyn says that the Fairies need help in their war against the Froudlings, and has Ryan and his friends kill a few red caps. Once they do this, Cailyn says she did not see the Sword of Caliber being dropped by Beetle, but says maybe the scouts did. She tells them to go into red cap territory and free the captured scouts from their cages, which they eventually do. They then take the scouts back to Cailyn, who says that her best scout, Kerry Grapeseed, is still missing. She says Kerry was kidnapped by a Spriggan named Urlista. Ryan then goes into Urlista’s cave and kills Urlista with the help of Steve. Once Kerry is freed, they return to Cailyn. Kerry says the Sword of Caliber was taken by Froudlings into the darkest part of the Eirewood, The Wyrd, before the fairies could recover it. She tells Ryan and his friends that, in order to get to The Wyrd, they need to repair the Floating Stone Bridge. She says the only one with the knowledge to do that is Father John. They then return to Camp Caliburn and talk to Father John, who says that they need the Hearts of the Jabberwock to repair the bridge. He says the only one who knows where the Jabberwock is is a traitor called the Dark Knight who lives in Caerbannog. Once he is defeated by Cole, he reveals that the Jabberwock’s Den is located on the High Road. Once they get to the Jabberwock’s Den, they discover that the Jabberwock is a giant dragon with two buck teeth. However, once they start fighting it, they discover that it can breathe fireballs. Just when all hope seems lost, Shelby sees that right after it breathes out a fireball, it leaves itself wide open, allowing her to slay the beast. With the Jabberwock dead, they rip out its five hearts, then purify them at the Shrine to Loyalty in the Face of Gloom, Melancholy, Angst, Bitterness, and Snark. They then tell Father John of this deed, and he promotes them all to Knight Errants. They take the hearts back to the Floating Stone Bridge, causing it to repair itself. Cailyn then tells them to seek out the ghosts called Spectres of the Brocken and follow them to the Lost Abbey. Once inside the Lost Abbey, they are attacked by a ghost called the Lord of the Brocken, who is defeated by Nate. The ghost then morphs into a knight named Sir Belenos, who tells them that the Spectres of the Brocken put the Sword of Caliber in a Froudling wagon just before Ryan and his friends freed him from his curse. He says if they hurry, they can catch the wagon. However, they discover that the wagon has been overturned and the sword is missing. They then hear a voice crying for help and discover it is coming from and Imp named Fernly nearby. He agrees to tell them what they need to know if they can extinguish the magical flames devouring his treetop house. Once they do this with water from a nearby fountain, Fernly says that the sword was stolen by Death Seraphs, but the path to the Death Seraphs is blocked by an Ettin named Teyrnon. When they get to the path, they see that Teyrnon is a two-headed Ettin, but one of his heads has been turned to stone. Shocked when Ryan and his friends are not terrified of him, Teyrnon tells them to steal some mutton from the nearby Froudling village, which they manage to do. After Teyrnon eats the mutton, he tells them that he was lured here by the leprechaun Seamus O’Reilly to be turned to stone by the sun. He says if they can get Seamus O’Reilly to reverse the curse, he will vow to never harm a leprechaun again. When they tell Seamus this, he concocts a potion that will restore Teyrnon’s other head. Once the other head is restored, both heads swear not to harm a leprechaun again. Teyrnon then says they need to look for a ghost in the nearby cemetery named Brigid and moves out of their way. She then says that she saw the sword being taken into the Tomb of the Nameless by the Death Seraphs. She says in the tomb lies a knight whose name was erased from history for his unspeakable crimes. She gives them a warning that the knight housed in this tomb is Sir Michael Jones, the knight who betrayed Weasel and King Arturius, resulting in them going missing. Morgan then says that she fought him once when he was alive and barely survived, and says that he will be probably even worse as a ghost. When they enter the tomb, they only have time to notice the Sword of Caliber mounted on the wall before Sir Michael Jones’s ghost attacks them. Once he is defeated by a combination of their attacks, Sir Michael Jones tries to pick up the sword, but it disappears into thin air before he can grab it. It leaves behind a female voice that says someone who has committed the crimes that Sir Michael Jones has committed will never be able to hold the sword, and that if Ryan and his friends want the sword, they need to seek out the Lady of the Loch on the shores of Loch Nimue. Ryan and his friends then return to Brigid and tell her what just happened. She says they will need to find Gwynivyr, Arturius’s Queen, in the fortress of Dun Leigh in the deepest part of the Eirewood. She tells them to take the Northern Path. Before they leave, she tells them to look for a druid named Aodh when they get to Dun Leigh. When they find this Aodh, he shows them to Gwynivyr, who says that before they can wield the Sword of Caliber, they need to be fully knighted. She tells them to meditate at the Lightning Burnt Tree to summon the ghost of Sir George Harrison, who might be able to help them. When the knight is summoned, he tells them that he was a famous dragon slayer back in the day before the Lightning Dragon, Catalan killed him. He says if they kill Catalan, he might be able to knight them. Once Catalan is killed by Cole, they report back to George, who says he is too far in the Realm of the Dead and cannot knight them. He tells them to tell Gwynivyr of this deed and see if she will knight them. She says the Shrine to Nobility of Kings and Knights and Common People Like You, located in The Wyrd, is in disrepair. She says if Ryan and his friends repair the shrine, she can declare them Knights of The Wyrd, one step below Knights of the Square Table. She tells them to ask the ghost of Brigid how to repair it and sends them on their way. Brigid tells them that the shrine’s shield was stolen by the Ogre named Mike and his Donkey named Eddie, who now reside in a tower in the Froudling Village. They then enter Mike’s Tower and the two recognize Ryan and his friends from their brief encounter before in the dungeons of Sir Richard Campbell’s Tower. Once Mike is killed by Steve and Eddie is killed by Ryan, they take the shrine’s shield from a pile of Mike’s stolen treasures. They then take it to Ashley in Abbey Road to have it repainted before repairing the Shrine to Nobility of Kings and Knights and Common People Like You and meditating at it. They then returns to Gwynivyr, who officially makes them Knights of the Wyrd. Gwynivyr then says they need to return to Abbey Road, where they will rally the Knights of the Square Table and prepare to head off to Loch Nimue for the Sword of Caliber. When they arrive in Abbey Road, Gwynivyr says that back in Arturius and Weasel’s days, there was a physical Square Table that the Knights of the Square Table would meet at. However, it has since fallen into the hand of the Bane Wyrm, a dragon who lives in a cave in Camp Caliburn. Once the Bane Wyrm is slain by Shelby, they bring back the Square Table and discuss strategy with all the Knights of the Square Table. They unanimously decide then is the time to throw down the gauntlet and attack Loch Nimue, but they are unsure of how. Gwynivyr says that the only way to Loch Nimue is through a gate in Castle Arturia’s Outer Yard, but it is heavily guarded. Lady Olivia says that Tate has stationed almost half a legion of troops (roughly 2600 men) in the Outer Yard, along with two heavy walkers and six light walkers. The other knights say that they cannot hold off such a force on their own, and will need the help of other Arturians. Ryan and his friends then make the decision to scour the planet for allies. After recruiting Knights from Caerbannog; Leprechauns, Fairies, and Lightning Elves from The Wild; Ghosts, Imps, and Teyrnon from The Wyrd; and Druids from Dun Leigh; they have around 700 troops at their disposal. Gwynivyr then hatches a plan: she and the Knights of the Square Table will lead this army into the Outer Yard and fight off the Tatians while Ryan and his friends sneak into Loch Nimue. Ryan and his friends will find the Lady of the Loch and the Sword of Caliber as soon as possible while the knights and army buy time. After this discussion, Ryan, his friends, Gwynivyr, the Knights of the Square Table, and the Arturians march up to Caerbannog, quickly dispose of the guards at the entry point, and enter the Outer Yard. The Knights and Arturians then immediately engaged the Tatian forces while Ryan and his friends looked for the first person that didn’t look hostile. Eventually, they find a human-goblin hybrid named Darwick Wavis who agrees to help them get to Loch Nimue. He says they’ll need the help of an owl priest named Brother Credence who is locked up in a nearby prison tower, guarded by a mysterious dragon-donkey hybrid. Once Morgan slays this creature and frees Brother Credence, they ask him how to get to Loch Nimue. Credence says that they need a key from a Spriggan who lives in a nearby tower named Ginther Kerr. Once Cole kills Ginther, they use the key to open a gate that leads directly to the shores of Loch Nimue. When they enter Loch Nimue, they see an otter priest who has been wounded. He says he can only be healed with water from the nearby Pool of Radiance. However, when Ryan and his friends get to the Pool of Radiance, they discover that it is dry. The priest, named Friar Beckham, says that this must be the work of the Pendragon’s Bog Witch, Black Annie. He says that Black Annie probably had some Rogue Cowlanders steal the gem eyes from the Alphyn Statues nearby. Once Ryan and his friends get the gems back from the Rogue Cowlanders, they restore the Alphyn Statues, which in turn refills the Pool of Radiance, which they use to heal Friar Beckham. Friar Beckham says the Lady of the Loch, and by extension the Sword of Caliber have been trapped in the Dolorous Tower by the Pendragon’s forces. He says the Abbot of Dunedin, an otter priest named Friar MacGregor, can help them get to the Dolorous Tower. When they get to Friar MacGregor, he says that their first step is to kill some of the Froudling Skirkers nearby and destroy the Barrels of Tainted Agave they are using to poison the lake. Once this is done, MacGregor tells them that the Lady of the Loch has a Seraph Guardian in front of the tower who will attack anyone who tries to enter, unless they show her that they are a friend by waving an olive branch at them. Nate picks a branch from a nearby olive tree, and the Seraph stands down. MacGregor then says that they need a key to enter the Dolorous Tower, and the only key is held by the evil Black Annie, who lives in a house floating in the center of Loch Nimue. He says that Loch Nimue cannot simply be swam across, so they need to sound the Signal Horn to create a path across the lake. Once Morgan blows the Signal Horn, a path snakes its way from the shoreline to Black Annie’s House, and Black Annie is killed by Taftenkhamun. They then enter the Dolorous Tower, where they finally find the Lady of The Loch. The Lady of the Loch says she used her magic back in the Tomb of the Nameless to move the Sword of Caliber into Castle Arturia’s entry hall. She tells them that the Pendragon and his forces cannot use it, since they are not Knights of the Square Table. She also says there are two more knightly shrines they must visit before Ryan and his friends can be Knights of the Square Table. One is in the Cowlander Village near Dunedin Abbey, and the other is in the catacombs below Castle Arturia. She says the Shrine to Mercy, the one in the Cowlander Village, can only be restored when the sword and shield are recovered from the stomach of the Loch Monster, a creature that inhabits Loch Nimue and terrorizes the Cowlander Village every few hours. They then wait an hour or two for the monster to surface, before Cole kills it after a prolonged battle. Once the Shrine of Mercy is restored, the Lady of the Loch uses her magic to grant Ryan and his friends the ability to breathe underwater and then has them go with her to the bottom of the lake, where she has locked away many of Arturia’s enemies. She says she brought Ryan and his friends here because there is no way to reach the last shrine from above without facing the Pendragon, and that creature cannot be defeated without the Sword of Caliber. However, here is a broken teleport arch to the catacombs of Arturia that link up to where the shrine is from below. They will need to battle various creatures here to collect the pieces, however. They then decide to split up to save time: Ryan fights off a horde of Grindylows, Morgan duels an evil mermaid, Shelby and Steve fight the ghost of Sir Michael Jones, Nate fights a Giant, and Cole fights a Bog Witch. Once they have the pieces for the teleporter, the Lady of the Loch magically reassembles them and before they know it, they are in Arturia’s Catacombs. She says in the room ahead of them, they will find the tombs of Weasel and Arturius, as well as the last shrine. However, when they enter the room, they find the shrine burnt to a crisp and the tombs empty. The Lady of the Loch is troubled to hear this news, but says she has a backup plan involving time travel. However, there are no working Turdae on Arturia and they will have to use magical means. She sends Ryan and his friends to the dungeon cells to look for a knight named Sir Patrick who can help them with this endeavor. After recovering Sir Patrick’s cell key from some hobgoblins, Sir Patrick tells them that they all have to almost kill themselves in order to enter the realm of Limbo. He says that they can do this by drinking from the Well of Annwn nearby. He says they also need silver ladles from the Death Seraphs who roam nearby. Once they have the silver ladles, Patrick explains that they needed these because the enchanted silver has the property of keeping a tiny piece of their souls attached to their bodies while the rest is in Limbo, preventing them from actually dying during the procedure. The first spoonful from the Well of Annwn made them begin to relive their worst fears and memories. The second spoonful added an extremely spicy sensation to their tongues, forcing Patrick to force-feed them the stuff from here onward. The next one induced a burning sensation in their insides, and the next one knocked them unconscious. Once they were all unconscious, they all entered a dream where they were standing next to their bodies. Patrick then led them into a Crystal Cave away from their bodies. Patrick explained to them that none of what they have just started experiencing is real and is all a dream. Most of their souls are here in Limbo, but small pieces remain inside their tangible bodies to keep them alive in the physical world. He says that the roots of Mother Oak, the Universal Tree, are located here and taking off a piece of their roots will help overcome the dizzy feeling of entering Limbo. Patrick tells them to chew on their root piece, which helps them get used to being in Limbo. He then leads them past a group of statues of Arturius, Gwynivyr, Tate, and Weasel that all are speaking to each other. Patrick says not to mind them as they are just forgotten memories lost in time. He says that the spiral staircase behind him will lead them to the Arturia of the past, where Weasel and Arturius were about to fight Tate’s army and where they were betrayed by Sir Michael Jones. To allow them to blend in, he temporarily transforms Ryan and all his friends into Shredder, Weasel’s hippogriff. With them all sharing a body, he sends Shredder up the stairs and into the past. When Shredder gets there, he first finds King Arturius, who asks him to check on the armory and make sure his armor is ready for battle. In the armory, Shredder finds Sir Michael Jones tampering with the armor’s structure to make it weaker. Shredder reports this to King Arturius, informing him of Michael’s betrayal. While Arturius sends his knights to search for Sir Michael Jones, he tells Shredder to go outside and fight off some of Tate’s Army, once Shredder deals with them, Arturius tells him to ask Weasel if he knows anything about Sir Michael Jones’s Location. Weasel says he does not know, but he does know that Tate has entered the tower and he needs Shredder to hold him off while Weasel gets his armor. Once Shredder succeeds in wounding Tate, Tate says something about a horned crown and he goes to the armory to warn Weasel, but finds Weasel and Arturius dueling Sir Michael Jones. Shredder then joins the fight, but Weasel and King Arturius lose consciousness when Michael’s sword impales them both in one fell swoop. Tate then rushes into the room with a huge, thorny crown while Shredder kills Sir Michael Jones. Shredder then meditates in front of the Shrine to Justice before hearing a loud dragon’s roar and being whisked back to the Crystal Caves. Once Shredder is here, Sir Patrick separates him back into Ryan, Morgan, Shelby, Steve, Taftenkhamun, Nate, and Cole before telling that they need only to leave the Crystal Caves to exit Limbo and return to the physical world. Once Ryan and his friends leave the Crystal Caves, they suddenly wake up in their physical bodies right next to the Well of Annwn. Sir Patrick then says what they just saw in Limbo was the events of 10 years ago, through the eyes of Shredder. He then tells them to go back to the shores of Loch Nimue and tell the Lady of the Loch that they are ready to be Knights of the Square Table. Once they go back to the Dolorous Tower, they find the Lady of the Loch, who officially knights them and then tells them to return to Castle Arturia’s Outer Yard. From there, they must go into the castle itself. The Sword of Caliber will be waiting for them stuck into a stone in the entry hall. Whoever pulls it out must lead the team in confronting the Pendragon. Once Ryan and his friends reach Castle Arturia, they easily deal with a few Stag Lancers guarding the place, and Nate draws forth the Sword of Caliber from the stone on the first floor. Ryan and his friends then charge up the stairs into the Throne Room, where they initiate a long and arduous fight with the Pendragon. After close to an hour of them getting nowhere, Steve blinds the beast by breathing fire in its eyes. Using the golden opportunity, Nate stabbed the beast in the heart with the Sword of Caliber, killing it. However, instead of simply falling over and dying, the Pendragon transformed into sand to reveal Weasel and King Arturius, both gravely injured, in the sand pile. In the sand pile, they also find the same evil crown that Tate had during their excursion into Limbo. The Lady of the Loch then entered the room, saying that as Shredder was meditating at the Shrine to Justice all those years ago, Tate placed the Horned Crown, a Shadow Artifact from The Wyrd, on the heads of Weasel and King Arturius, transforming them into the evil Pendragon. She also says that Weasel and Arturius can be healed if Nate destroys the Horned Crown with the Sword of Caliber, which he promptly does. He then feels the powers of the Horned Crown (and by extension the Pendragon) flow into the Sword of Caliber, making the object even more ludicrously powerful than it already was. Nate then handed the sword to Weasel, who along with Arturius, had been instantly healed by the destruction of the Horned Crown. Weasel and Arturius then congratulate Weasel and his friends for being able to make it this far and restore them to life. Arturius then says he will call the Knights of the Square Table to a special session. However, before they can even leave the castle, they find the Gwynivyr already there with the Knights of the Square Table along with the Square Table itself. She says that an army of Cowlanders lead by Friars Beckham and MacGregor flanked the Tatian Army by emerging from the area around Loch Nimue, helping to defeat them quickly after that. None of the Knights of the Square Table died during the fighting, but many other Arturians were killed, including Cailyn Taylor, Fernly, and Roidh Stormhilt. The Lady of the Loch, Arturius, Weasel, the remaining Arturians, and the Knights of the Square Table then all give three loud cheers for Ryan and his friends as the sun sets.
