Elemental Magic

Elemental Magic is the oldest form of magic mortals have access to, created by the three Titans during the early days of the galaxy. The Great Drakon created Fire Magic, Iotannu created Frost Magic, and The Thunderbird created Storm Magic. These were generally the most commonly practiced form of magic for most of the galaxy's history. However, since the Shadow Cycle ended with the death of Alexandros, magic usage has greatly declined overall, and almost all magic these days is practiced by various priesthoods, which use the three Spirit schools almost exclusively.

The three elemental schools are as follows:

FIRE

Fire is the school of passion, representing the user's will and goals. In general, fire magic comes naturally to those who are strong-willed, while those who are weak-willed will have better luck with another school. Fire draws its power from the user's breath, and as long as the user is able to maintain proper breathing control, they will be able to use their abilities. However, fire magic is noticeably weaker both at night and in temperatures below freezing, in addition to being completely unusable underwater . In the Cosmic Order of Magical Energy, fire forms a triad with Mind and Life magic, as fire is a wild, living force of energy that must be tamed by the user and a source of energy that powers the mind. Fire is also the only element where users can create it out of thin air and do not need to be around the element to use. However, fire users must learn to control it, as fire will burn everything it touches if left to itself. When properly controlled, fire is life and energy. When improperly controlled, fire is burning and destruction. The fire school's symbol is the volcano, its colors are red and orange, and its gemstone is the ruby.

FROST

Frost is the school of deception, representing the shift of ice to and from water. In general, frost magic comes naturally to those with laid-back and adaptable personalities, and those who are stubborn will have better luck with another school. Like fire magic, frost magic draws its power from the user's breath, but in frost magic, breath is used to cool rather than warm. As such, proper breathing control is a must to successfully use frost magic as well. In order to use the vast majority of frost magic's abilities, the user needs to be within a reasonable distance of either solid or liquid water. While frost magic users can easily change water to and from ice or snow, they cannot otherwise control water in its liquid form. In addition, frost magic is slightly more difficult to use in hot temperatures, although a skilled magician would have very little trouble keeping ice or snow solid even in a scorching desert. Despite this, frost magic users can also harness the wind to produce gusts of chilled air, although this is nearly impossible to do in hot temperatures. A master frost user can change water to ice, ice to snow, and snow back into water all in the span of a few seconds, and can even sublimate ice from the air. As a result, frost users are very unpredictable in battle, and generally enjoy deceiving their opponents, compared to the brute force approach of the other two elemental schools. In the Cosmic Order of Magical Energy, frost forms a triad with mind and death, as death, like deception, is cold and fickle, while the mind, like deception, is cold and rational. Frost, in the hands of good, keeps you on your toes and causes necessary change, while in the hands of evil, frost is cold and treacherous. The frost school's symbol is the woolly mammoth, its colors are blue and cyan and its gemstone is the aquamarine.

STORM

Storm is the school of power, representing the raw energy of the skies and seas.
