The Hacktivist

The Hacktivist was a Guant born on Aurea around three years before Inquisitor Rhys invaded the planet. He was named Julian Orange. A year after Inquisitor Rhys's invasion, Lord Ombra and Lord Whelan attacked the planet. Since Lord Whelan occupied the city of Athinai, where The Hacktivist lived, Weasel and his friends were trying to liberate the city. However, one of the bombs they were using as a distraction accidentally went off in the presence of civilians, killing The Hacktivist's sister. The Hacktivist swore revenge, saying he would be back someday, and Weasel would be scared when he did. For the next two decades, The Hacktivist lived in his parents' basement, operating an Ishga-supplied computer. Believing the Aurean Government to be systematically killing people like his sister, The Hacktivist was swallowed into the vast rabbit hole of conspiracy theories and internet rumors. He started wearing a Guy Fawkes mask to protect his identity in public, and a tinfoil hat to protect himself against Aurean mind-control beams that he claims exist. He started a website called Leak Kiwis, where he would hack the Aurean Government and post confidential or embarrassing information he found. It is he who exposed the Aurean failure to save Aztlan, as well as their lack of knowledge of Tate's plans. Eventually, his hacking skills and anonymity caught the eye of Tate and The Cabal, who sought to use him to hack Ishga records to figure out whether Weasel was alive or not. This is how Tate learned that Weasel was in exile on Arturia. When Weasel was returned from his Pendragon state ten years later, he stole the blueprints for the Shadow Weapons, critical to Tate's next plan, from Vigam. After Tate tried and failed to get the blueprints back using Ali Baboon on Ishgabangaloodoo, he paid The Hacktivist a large sum of money to hack the Aurean Government and steal the blueprints directly from their database. To prepare for this hack, he recruited a troll from Ryu 108 named Kellör Gustin. These two worked together to build a team of trolls, which eventually succeeded in hacking the Aurean Government and stealing the Shadow Weapons blueprints. Over the course of the rest of the war, The Hacktivist evaded capture by pretending to be your average, garden-variety deranged conspiracy theorist until Michael on Ishgabangaloodoo managed to use new software to decrypt The Hacktivist's IP address and send it to Aurean authorities. This resulted in a raid on his house being conducted and The Hacktivist being arrested. Instead of being convicted of treason, The Hacktivist fled Aurea and pleaded with other places to take him in. Ryu 97 eventually gave in, and gave him official permission to live in Ishgabangaloodoo's Ryuan Embassy. There he stays to this day, hacking governments and posting on Leak Kiwis, but unable to leave the Ryuan Embassy without facing immediate arrest by Ishga authorities.
