His Ways
"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:9
While on earth, we view things from our finite perspective. We do not see the BIG picture that God views. His ways are indeed different from ours: our ways, our thoughts are fallen and sinful, His are infinite and divine! Why should it surprise us then when God works differently in our lives than we would? Why should we be surprised when God takes the hurt in our lives and turns it into joy? Why do we shake our heads in amazement when God brings growth out of heartache? We need His perspective, the divine perspective, and then all will fall into place. God, in His Word, has given us glimpses of His perspective, "Count it all joy when ye fall into diverse tribulation." (James 1:2); "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matt. 5:10); "If you suffer for what is right, you are blessed." (1 Peter 3:15). God is saying in all these verses, "Watch me work! See what I will do in this trial! Joy is coming in the morning, can you wait on Me?" I like to think about it this way: God has a wild imagination! Most of the time I would never bring about the good He does in the ways He does, but it amazes me how He works! So, next time you find yourself in the midst of trouble or suffering, remember your Father has a wild imagination and He will work out the problem to His glory and honor in a way you could never have imagined. So sit back, stop worrying and enjoy the ride!
Father, help us to rise above our own finite perspectives and to see the big picture. Help us to trust you when we are unable to see it, knowing that you have it all under control. Help us to change our human expectations and exchange them for heavenly ones. Help us to take your promises to heart and believe that you are working, even when we cannot see how. Give us the joy you have promised in tribulation! Amen
