Sustained by Grace
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in
weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
James Mallory, Jr. states in his book, “Many Christians seem to understand the concept of being saved by grace, but they have missed the concept of being sustained by grace.” Being sustained by grace is the key to a successful Christian life. God bestowed grace upon us when we called upon the name of Jesus that we might be saved. It was the most precious of gifts. In our daily lives, we are still in need of his grace; a grace that will be sufficient, but that will also make God shine. His grace is there for us when we can’t go on. His grace is there for us when we are so weak we cannot lift our heads off our pillows. His grace will give us strength when we have no strength and His grace shows forth His might because of our weakness. Let us learn to call upon Him in our weakness. We need not struggle on in our own might. We have been offered His strength so that God might be glorified. This is the plan, this is God’s plan and we spoil it when we try to do things on our own. We need to learn to be sustained by God’s grace, that His power might be made perfect in our weakness. Father, why do we struggle on in our own strength when You have Your arms outstretched to us, waiting for us to ask for Your help? Help us to look to You first when life becomes hard. Help us to accept Your never ending gift of grace; let it fill us and sustain us that You might be glorified.
Father, we thank You for saving us by Your grace, now we ask You to sustain us with your grace. Help us to see You even in the trials of life. Help us to witness Your sustaining grace in our daily lives. May it strengthen us and may all the glory be Yours! Amen
