Spiritual Act of Worship
"Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God— this is your spiritual act of worship." Romans 12:1
Worship. Isn’t that something we do on Sundays, when we gather together and sing praises to God and Jesus and tell them how much we love them? Yes...but this scripture tells us there is another kind of worship. This worship will cost us something, it is a sacrifice, but it is holy and pleasing to God. As we go through life and sacrifice our lives on His altar, we are worshiping God. Everything we do for Him, working behind the scenes at church, teaching Sunday School, visiting the sick, calling a discouraged sister, whatever your act of service, it is a spiritual act of worship. This realization should revolutionize how we think of Christian service! If we begin to think of our involvement as an act of worship, we will become eager to serve because we are eager to please and worship our God. Worship is a daily act and so is offering up our bodies as a living sacrifice. It is not done just on Sundays, so our acts of sacrifice, our acts of worship then should extend not only to our churches, but to our families and to our jobs. What an impact we could make for the Lord if every act of our lives were an act of worship! So let everything we do become an act of worship in order that our very lives will be holy and pleasing to Him.
Father, make every act an act of worship. Help us to live in such a way that our whole lives will be a sacrifice of praise to You. Make us holy as You are holy, Lord, that all glory might rise to You. Amen
