Able To Do
"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen" Ephesians 3:20, 21
Jehovah God is omnipotent. He is the Creator of the Universe. He is the Almighty. He is also our Father, a father that wishes to give to his children more than our finite minds can fathom. The Greek word for "immeasurably more" is literally translated "superabundantly above the greatest abundance." Can we even comprehend what that means? His supernatural power is at work in our lives. The early church had seen the power of the Holy Spirit at work. They had seen it heal the sick, they had seen it change hearts (look at the transformation that took place in Paul), and they had even seen it raise Jesus from the dead. This same magnificent power that did all these things, this same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in us! Can we even begin to understand what that means? There is no limit to God's ability to give to us, to work within us. There is no sin or sinner that is beyond his reach. He can do anything! He is the God of miracles! Paul goes on to tell us that while there is no limit to his ability, there is no limit to his willingness to give to us either! His desire is to do more for us than we can ask or even imagine. What a father we have, a father that desires to give us every good and perfect gift! He desires to give us more than we can even ask for or imagine! Paul wants us to remember this when we have a spiritual need: we can come boldly to our Father and he will give us the desire of our heart. When we truly come to understand what kind of father we have, there is no questioning that all glory and honor and praise will be towards him, now and forever!
Father, our finite minds cannot even begin to wrap themselves around all that you do and plan to do in our lives! We are so grateful that, despite the fact that you are the God of the Universe, you have reached down and drawn us to yourself. We thank you for making us your children and being such a SUPER dad to us. It may take all eternity for us to comprehend what you have done in each of our lives, but it will be our privilege to sing your praise forever! Amen
