Trust in God
"You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you." Isaiah 26:3
Trust is not something one is born with, it is something learned. Children trust their parents because they consistently help them in times of need. So it is with our heavenly Father. As we see how our Father deals with us, we learn over and over again that we can trust Him, come what may. There is nothing to fear, because we are kept safe in the hands of God. When fear is removed from our lives, trust is the result. Then comes the perfect peace found only in Him. It comes when our minds remain fixed on all that He has done for us in the past. He gives us perfect peace: not partial peace, or temporary peace or fleeting peace, but perfect peace. In the New Testament, it is referred to as a peace that passeth all understanding. It is a peace that cannot be described: it can only be experienced! Those around us will be amazed when they see this peace in action! Though the winds of turmoil are swirling around us and the waves of trial seem bent on destroying us, we are calm. God has taken care of us in the past, and He will do so now, even in this present storm. We have learned that in all circumstances He is to be trusted. He will bring us growth, understanding and character development out of the storms of life. Because we know this, perfect peace is ours. Never lose sight of your beginnings and how He has brought you thus far; He is teaching you to trust Him.
Father, give us Your perfect peace. The world knows nothing of Your peace, but I have tasted of this peace and I long for it to fill my life. Keep my mind fixed on You, for only then will I be filled with Your peace. Help me to trust You more with every aspect of my life. Amen
