The Word of Faith
"The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is the word of faith we are proclaiming." Romans 10:8
When we first accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior, we did it with our mouths. We confessed the name of the one who had saved us to our brothers and sisters in Christ. Our mouths were instrumental from the very beginning of our Christian walks in activating the living faith that God had given to us. We believed with all our hearts that Jesus had died to save us and the joy we felt was contagious. We longed to tell others of what he had done for us. Paul’s impact on those of his day was unbelievable. His mouth was a verbal torch that lit many on fire for Christ. There was no stopping Paul from telling others of the living faith that he had been given. He proclaimed it everywhere. For some, the fire seems to diminish over time. We still love the Lord, but we are no longer on fire for Him. The best way for us to turn a lukewarm faith into a living one is to follow Paul’s example and proclaim it to others. When our faith in Christ is activated by using our mouths, the fire will grow stronger and we, like Paul, will be able to pass on the torch of faith to others.
Father, help us to speak freely of all that You have done for us. Grant us the courage to tell others of the God who is our Father and of Your Son, who died for us. Help us to proclaim the gospel freely that others might come to know and love You as we do. We ask this in the worthy name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
