No Eye Has Seen
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
Have you stopped to think about what our futures hold for us as Christians? What lies beyond all the cares of this world? Sometimes we tend to focus on the here and now, the road that is often rocky and filled with trials, and we miss out on something very important. In this text, Paul tells us to focus on the future; on the great hope of eternity and the blessings to come. Our fleshly human nature wants to focus on the present trials and hardships. But when we do, we lose out on the joy of our Christianity, because we have lost sight of heaven. It is hard to imagine what heaven will be like. I know it will be grand, but I haven't the foggiest idea of what "grand" is. First Corinthians 2:9 tells us our future is beyond grand. There is nothing we can imagine, nothing we have seen, nothing we have heard, nothing we can even conceive of that will compare with what our Father has planned for us in the future. Can we even take that in? Surely taking hope in the future and what it will hold should give us great courage to carry on in this weary world. We have a Father who is planning a future that will be beyond our wildest imaginations. No matter what tomorrow brings, our hope lies in God and the glory to come. Let us keep our focus on the future and this glorious promise Paul gave us. Indeed, the best is yet to come
Father, how we thank you for your Word and how it ministers to us! We thank you for the plans you have made for us: plans that include more than our finite minds can comprehend. We are so blessed to have you for our Father and to be able to rest in the assurance of your love and your care for us. More than anything else, we look forward to going home and seeing the glories you have prepared for us. We long for that day when we shall see you face to face; when all the pain and heartache of this life will be behind us and we will see and hear all that you have been preparing for us. Help us to keep our focus heavenward, dwelling on your love for us. We are so grateful for all you have done and all you continue to do for us. You have brought us so far, Lord. May we never stop expressing our love and gratitude to you, Father, for you are the very essence of our hope. Amen
