Depend of the LORD

“Depend on the LORD; trust Him, and He will take care of you.”Psalm 37:5

Human beings strive for independence. The world tells us that the only one we can truly count on it ourselves. We are in control of our destiny. We are the captain of our ship. Success or failure is dependent on what choices we make. Well, there is actually some truth in these statements, but the world would never understand it the way God sees it. We can choose to depend on ourselves or to depend on God. We can choose to be in control or to let God take control of our lives. Success will be ours when we choose God, when we choose to let go of control and submit to His control. God wants us to be dependent upon Him. He wants to take care of us. It seems such a simple choice. Isn’t it easier to let God take control of our lives and take care of us, than for us to struggle through life, always striving to do that which is impossible? Yes, the reality is quite plain, but for most of us it is not such an easy thing to let go and let God, as they say. We want to maintain some control of our destiny, but in doing so, we are working against God. He wants total dependence, it’s all or nothing with Him. He wants total control of our lives. He wants to take care of us. Will you trust Him or yourself? 

Father, I want You to be captain of my life. Help me to let go of my “need” to control and become totally dependent on You. Thank You for this precious promise that when I trust You, when I depend on You, You will take care of me. Let me live in total dependence on You. Amen
