Rest Secure in Him
"Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between his shoulders." Deuteronomy 33:12
I don't know about you, but this scripture conjures up a vivid scene in my mind...that of a child sound asleep with his head lying on his father's breast. Children who are lying secure in their father's arms can sleep despite the turmoil that may surround them, because they know their father will protect them. They are safe. Likewise, it matters not what life may bring to us. When we rest secure in the arms of our Heavenly Father, we are safe from all harm. We can rest because He has promised to shield us "all day long." It is an endless job, that of shielding us, but He does it because we are His beloved sons and daughters. There is nothing that will keep an earthly father from protecting his children. How much more will our Heavenly Father protect us, after He went to such lengths to adopt us, providing His son for our ransom that we might be called sons and daughters of the Most High God? Surely we can rest secure in a God who has gone to such lengths to save us and make us His sons! We are indeed beloved to Him. Even when the turmoil of our lives seems overwhelming, we know we can close our eyes and lay down our heads on the breast of our loving Father. He will hold us close, surrounding us with His everlasting arms and we will be secure in Him. What a beautiful picture, and what a comforting thought!Â
Thank you, Father, for loving me so. May I always remember that your loving arms are surrounding me, and may I rest secure knowing that you will always protect me from that which will do me harm! Amen
