Rich Inheritance
"We look forward to possessing the rich blessings (inheritance, NIV) that God keeps for his people. He keeps them for you in heaven, where they cannot decay or spoil or fade away. They are for you, who through faith are kept safe by God’s power for the salvation which is ready to be revealed at the end of time. 1 Pet. 1:4,5 (Today’s English Version)
Christians have been given not only a hope, but also an inheritance that is the substance of that hope. There is no richer blessing than to be the recipient of that inheritance, for it means we have been adopted as sons and daughters of the Most High. Our inheritance is eternal: it is not subject to decay, but is kept safe for us in heaven by the very God who adopted us. The very thought itself should fill us with hope! A day will soon arrive when we shall not only meet our Father face to face for the very first time, but be embraced by Him and given our inheritance; an inheritance that cannot be taken away from us. What joy that day will hold in store for us! What joy will be ours when we hear the Father’s voice as He calls us His son or His daughter! Let us lay hold of this hope and bind it in our hearts with faith, for we know that the God of this Universe is keeping safe our inheritance until that day when salvation shall be made know to all the world.
Thank you, Father, for giving us hope for the future. Thank you for adopting us as your sons and daughters, that we might know what it means to be truly loved with an everlasting love. Thank you for the inheritance that you have promised us, by faith we lay claim to it and eagerly await the time when we will receive it from your hands. Thank you, Father, for all you are to us, for words cannot express the love and gratitude we feel within our hearts for you. Thank you for working miracles in our lives that we might be called sons and daughters of the King! Amen
