When I am Weak
"When I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Corinthians 12:10
How can this statement be true? It makes no sense to the human mind. If you are weak, you are weak; if you are strong, you are strong. You can't be weak and strong at the same time, for it is impossible. But what Paul is telling us here is that when we come to the end of our rope and find that we can't go on, we find the Father's hand waiting to lift us up and carry on through in His strength. Unfortunately, many of us like to try to do it on our own, struggling and striving to make it through on our own power, which just leaves us tired and defeated. Yes, we will ask for God's help, but we still wish to hang onto control. All the while God is there with his hand outstretched waiting for us to grab on and let Him take over. Until we get to the point of waving that little white flag and saying "I surrender, this is bigger than I am, I need you to take over LORD," only then will we see real strength and power in our lives! God is waiting to hear those words and when he does, His power and strength will take hold of us! Of course, we don't have to wait until we're at the end; we can realize the reality at the very start if we are willing to relinquish our control of the situation. We need to admit our insufficiency and claim His ALL SUFFICIENCY! For when we are at the end of ourselves, we are at the beginning of the awesome power of God. It may make no sense to the natural man, but we know it to be true! When we know Christ, we are never more powerful than when we are powerless.
Father, thank you for always waiting there with your out stretched hand waiting for us to come to our senses. We are sorry that so often it takes us such a long time to get to that point. Thank you for your grace and your faithfulness, for you never give up on us, so matter how slow we are! We thank you for our weakness that we might know your strength and experience true power in our lives. Help us to relinquish control today and every day that we might have real strength as a reality in our lives. Amen
