Resolved to Know Jesus Christ
"For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified..." 1 Corinthians 2:2
As the old year draws to a close and the new year is upon us it is the tradition amongst men to make resolutions for the new year. Most of these resolutions are forgotten within weeks and most do not come to fruition. Let us this year make the same resolve that Paul makes here in Corinthians, to know nothing except Jesus Christ and him crucified. That is a tall order, but through Jesus Christ we can make this resolution successful. When we look at each of our brethren let us, like Paul, resolve not to see their faults and failures, but to see Jesus Christ and him crucified. When we look at our spouses and family, let us strive to see Christ at work in them. Hopefully they will begin to do the same with us. What a glorious work could be done in both home and church if all looked at each other with this in mind of seeing only Jesus Christ and him crucified. Think what unity there would be, think what an impact on the world the church might have. Let us resolve this day to begin to look at those in our lives who have given themselves to Christ with the eyes of Jesus and see only him in them.Â
Father, help me to look at my spouse and brethren with the eyes of Paul and to see only Christ in them. Let me look past their faults and throw on the robe of Christ to cover their imperfections and Father, may they do the same for me. Help me to see Christ around me, help me to be Christ to others. Let me make an impact in this world for you. Help me to keep this resolution now and always. Through Jesus Christ I ask this, Amen.
