You Are My LORD
"You are my LORD; apart from you I have no good thing." Psalm 16:2
There is nothing in this life that can compare with having the LORD as an integral part of our lives. Once we have tasted what life is like with Him, we will never wish to go back to our prior lives, which were so empty. Our Father has given us so much, and without Him there is no good thing that we possess. Primarily, He has saved us! Sin, like quicksand, was swallowing us up and the end result would have been death for sure. But He lifted us out of the miry pit of sin and set our feet on the rock, Jesus Christ. He adopted us as His children. He has been the best of Fathers to us, loving us even when we do not deserve to be loved. He gave us His Holy Spirit to live in us, to empower us to do and become what we never dreamed. He is making us into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ. All that this life has to offer us without Him is nothing compared to the goodness that He has filled our lives with each and every day. We need only look around us to see what He has blessed us with, whether it is family, home or church. Go look out your window and see the trees, the flowers, the birds, the squirrel frolicking in the sun: all these are a gift from your Father. There is nothing that is good that has not come from Him, a gift to His children. There is nothing He would withhold from us that is good because His love for us is unconditional and He showers us with grace and mercy every day of our lives. In Him, we have it all and there is nothing lacking. Indeed, He is our LORD, but He is so much more, for He is our Father, as well, and apart from Him there is nothing.
Father, thank you for your unconditional love toward us. I praise you for lifting me from the quicksand of sin and death and setting my feet on Jesus Christ! Thank you for saving me and giving me life abundantly in you! My life is so rich in you, I have need of nothing. Help me to always focus on all that you have blessed me with. Let me never forget that apart from you I have no good thing. Thank you for your grace and mercy. Amen
