Look Heavenward
"My eyes are ever on the Lord." Psalm 25:15 (NIV)
Our eyes need to be pointed heavenward, no matter what this day may bring, for if our eyes are fixed on the Lord, we are safe. He is ever ready to rescue us or to grant us the strength we will need to see us through any experience. It is by gazing on Him that we gain that strength. Strength is gained from our Father as we learn who He is and what He has done for us. For as we gaze upon the God of the universe, we will see His attributes. We see a God that is full of wisdom. Wise enough to allow mankind to have its fill of sin that they might desire more from life and be ready for His coming Kingdom. Wise enough to give us a savior who was tested in all points as we are, that we might find strength in the one who died for us. We see a God who is so powerful that He could command the seas to part, bring water from rocks, set a bush on fire, yet not consume it. He has the power to wipe out the enemy without the Israelites ever having to lift a finger. He has the power to bring forth life and raise the dead. We see a God who had the power to save His son, but the love to refrain from doing so. We see a God full of love and unending mercy. We see a God who is pure justice, but who allows His love and mercy to combine with that justice and spill forth in grace. A God who provided His Son to die for us that we might have life. As David stated in this psalm, let our eyes be ever on the Lord. Let us look to Him that we might find the strength to see us through each day, let our eyes be ever on the Lord that we might never lose sight of all that He is and ever will be! Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Father, we look to You for all that is good and right in this life. Keep our focus on You, keep us close to You. Without You we are lost, but with You we can do all things. Prevent the distractions of this world from having any place in our lives. Surround us with Your love and hold us close to You that our eyes might never leave Your face. Amen
