Cleansed
"A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, ‘If you are willing, you can make me clean.’ Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. ‘I am willing,’ he said, ‘Be clean!’ Instantly the leprosy left him and he was cured."Mark 1:40-42
Jesus was always willing to cleanse men from their sins and to heal both their physical and emotional hurts. This same Jesus is willing to cleanse us from our sins and to heal our hurts. We don’t even need to beg, as this leper did; all we need to do is ask for forgiveness and it is ours. Our Savior is never too busy, never too hassled, or never too overwhelmed to listen to our pleas for help. He is always there, ever ready to hear us, no matter what it is we need to tell him. And, if it is sin we need to confess, if our life is being overtaken by this self-destructing disease called sin, then all we need to do is to throw ourselves at his feet and ask him to cleanse us with his precious blood. He is willing to heal us. He was willing over 2,000 years ago to shed his blood for us that we might be cleansed today. He was willing to suffer and die for you and me and all the people who had ever walked this earth or who will yet be born. He was willing to leave his Father and his royal heritage to take on the form of a man and suffer for us. He was willing then, and he is yet willing to heal us. All we need to do is ask.
Lord Jesus, cleanse me with your precious blood. Remove the sin that has crept into my life and make me white as snow. Thank you for being willing! Amen
