Don't Give Up
"Then Jesus told his disciples a story to show them that they should always pray and not give up." Luke 18:1
The story that Jesus told them was the story of the widow who would not give up seeking justice from the unjust judge. In the end, she received what she wanted and Jesus told his disciples that if an unrighteous judge would answer the request of a widow who kept asking, how much more would our Father in heaven? The principle that Jesus is attempting to get through to his disciples and to us is that we may have to pray for a long time to see a prayer answered, but don't give up. Is there someone in your life who needs to know Jesus? Pray for them and don't give up. You may pray for that person for 10 years or more, but don't give up. Is there a situation in your life that is weighing you down? Pray for its removal and keep praying. Our Father in heaven has so much to teach us, and there may be lessons we must learn before a situation can be removed. Or there may be experiences that an individual needs to go through before they will turn to Christ. We don't know these things, but the Father does and he is busy working all these things out, despite the fact that we cannot see him working. So keep praying, keep asking, keep waiting, keep learning. He HAS heard you and he WILL answer. Keep praying and don't give up!
Father, thank you for this parable from Jesus. Thank you for the assurance from your Son that all we ask is heard and you will answer. It may not be in our time frame or in the way we think best, but you will answer us and in the end it will be best! We trust you and praise you for you are a faithful Father and we are so blessed! Amen
