That All of Them May be One
"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you." John 17:20
Have you ever stopped as you read through the 17th chapter of John and thought, "Wow, Jesus even prayed for me!" He prayed for us before we existed. He loved us before we were born. He died for us long before we even knew we were sinners. Now, that's love! It is amazing to realize that Jesus cared about us before we existed. It's beyond my imagination that he cared for me so much that he would pray for me nearly 2000 years ago. That kind of love is overwhelming, but it is that kind of love that we are drawn to. It is that kind of love that we long to emulate. It is that kind of love that will make us one, just like Jesus was one with His Father. It is that kind of love that made plans to save us before the foundation of the world. A love that gave up the right hand of God to come to this earth and suffer at the hands of those he wished to save. A love that would never let us go. Bask in His love for you today. Pass it on to others, especially your brothers and sisters in Christ. Then the desire of Jesus' heart, spoken so long ago through the words of this prayer, will be answered. We will be one.
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for praying for me all those years ago. That truly touches my heart in such a profound way! Thank you for your love and for your gift of life which you gave before I was even born. Thank You, Father, for a love that reached to me from the beginning of time and will extend to all eternity. May I be worthy of such a love! AmenÂ
