Come Before Him With Thanksgiving
"Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song." Psalm 95:2
This text is a call to praise the God of the Universe for all He has done for us. This Thanksgiving season, make a commitment to God that you will look at your life differently, that you will look at your life through the glasses of thanksgiving. When we do so, we look at life from a different perspective than we are naturally inclined. We will see that in everything we can give thanks. If we find ourselves with an illness, we will thank God for a warm bed and the medical advancements that can make us well. When we are stuck in traffic on the way to work, we can praise Him for a car that runs and has heat on a cold day. When our children are bickering, we can praise Him that we have been blessed with children, when so many desire them and cannot have them. When things go wrong, as they surely will in our lives, we need to find cause for thanksgiving. Instead of dwelling on the negatives, look at the positives. There is so much to praise the Father for if we will only change our way of looking at any given situation. Let us resolve this day to go forth with thanksgiving in our hearts and a song on our lips, for we are blessed far beyond what we deserve!
Father, we thank You for all that You have placed in our lives; for the beauties of all of creation. Father, we thank You for all You have done in our lives, for freeing us from sin and making us your children. Father, we thank You for what You have yet to do in our lives; the transforming work that will never be complete until we meet You face to face. We thank You and we praise You and we extol You forevermore. Amen
