The Lord Is Close

“The Lord is close to everyone who prays to Him, to all who truly pray to Him.” Psalm 145:18

Do you long for a close relationship with your Father? Do you wish to be intimate with Him? Then pray, truly pray! Prayer is your lifeline with Him. It is your connection with the One who loves you. Without prayer it is impossible to know God. Don't be like the elder brother in the story of the prodigal son, who served his father and was obedient, but refused to enter his home and commune with him and join him in celebration of his brother’s homecoming. Without prayer or communion with God, we will just be going through the motions of being His children, but we will never truly get to know Him. He will be distant even though we serve Him day and night. Just like the elder son who longed for his father's love but chose to stay away rather than to sit at his feet, we will not be close to Him. The choice is ours. The Father is waiting with arms open. Will we come into His house and sit with Him? If we do, we will feel His presence with us. We will have a close and affectionate bond that no one and nothing can break.

Father, help us to live in Your presence. Teach us to commune with You for we long to be close to You. Keep the distractions of this world away and help us to prioritize our lives, putting You first and making prayer a priority, and communion with you the most important thing in our lives. Sit with us, Father, commune with us, stay close to us. Amen
