We are the Clay
"Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand." Isaiah 64:8
We are the work of our Heavenly Father’s hand. He is taking a worthless clump of clay and with the application of pressure, water, and a great deal of spinning, shaping us into a beautiful vessel. We will find that it is through the trials and the application of His truth in our lives that we will become a masterpiece. Sometimes we feel as if our lives are spinning out of control, but we can be assured that the Master Potter knows exactly how much turmoil is necessary in our lives. Do you find yourself resisting the pressures in your life? Do you sometimes want to jump off the potter’s wheel and say I have had enough pain and turmoil in my life, I can take no more? I think we have all been there, but our job if we wish to become a vessel of honor for God’s use is to submit to Him and to the experiences He places in our lives. The work of submission, of yielding ourselves to the work that the Heavenly Potter is performing in our lives is not always an easy task, but it is a necessary one. One that will allow Him to work with us, to shape this worthless bit of clay into a beautiful vessel for His use. Someday if we learn the lesson of submission we will see the results of our working together with our Father, we will become His masterpiece, a vessel to bring glory and honor to His name!
Father, thank You for taking this worthless lump of clay and making me into a vessel for Your honor and glory. Thank You for working a miracle in my life. May the beauty of what You are making of me rise up to You and bring You all the glory and honor that You so richly deserve. Amen
