White as Snow
"Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow."Isaiah 1:18
Sin is something we all have committed. Isaiah is trying to show us how dramatic our forgiveness is by having us focus on a murderer whose hands are covered in blood. Then he says they shall be cleansed and made white as snow, without a trace of sin left behind to mar them. No matter what we have done, our sins are forgiven because of Jesus. He is the one who has brought the snow into our lives and covered us, so we are white, cleansed. As I look out my window and see the beautiful white snow that blankets the streets it is a constant reminder of the forgiveness of God. The other day I was out attempting to get the ice off my driveway. As I shoveled the dirty slushy mess from the drive and threw in on the clean white snow I was struck by how horrible it looked. When I awoke the next day and looked out the window and saw that it had snowed again, it really impressed upon me the beauty of forgiveness of sin. How beautiful it looked! The snow had totally covered the dirty, ugly slush I had thrown next to my driveway. What a wonderful picture of how Jesus forgives us over and over, no matter the mess we make of things! No matter how sin has marred our lives, his mercy is new every morning. He cleanses us and makes us as white as snow: clean, fresh, and beautiful.
Father, how I thank you for new beginnings! I thank you for each new day. Thank you for Jesus and the cleansing we have received and continue to receive from his sacrifice. Thank you for the blood that covers our ugly sin and cleanses us, making us as white as snow! Amen
