I Am the Way
"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
Many people are in search of a higher power. They seek through meditation, through crystals, through self-deprivation to reach God. They feel that only through self-effort can they reach God. Of all the religions out there today, it is only in Christianity that people don’t need to reach God through their own self-effort. Christianity tells us that God instead reached down to us. He sent to a sin-sick world His Only Begotten Son, to die and redeem us. He gave all mankind the opportunity for life...a free gift, not attained through self-effort or self-sacrifice, free to any who accept His gift, Christ. How do we reach God? Only through Christ. Not Christ and the church. Not Christ and good works. Not Christ and sincerity. Not Christ and giving up your sins. Not Christ and trying real hard. Not Christ and baptism, Christ and morality, or Christ and a good family. No! Christ, Period! We need only accept the free gift that God gave us. How thankful we should be that we need not reach God by continuous striving, for He reached down to us and through His Son, Jesus Christ, He draws us to Himself.
Thank You for the gift of Jesus. Thank You that I do not need to find salvation on my own, for Christ is all I need. Thank You for showing us the way, for giving us the truth and bestowing on us life through Christ. May we live worthy of that gift! Amen
