Consider it Pure Joy
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. James 1:2-3
Joni Earecksoon Tada says that a trial is not just an assault to be withstood, it is an opportunity to be seized. That is what this text is trying to tell us. Why are we experiencing this difficulty? What lesson is there for us to learn in this? How can we grow? Where do we turn in turmoil? Where is the Joy? If in our trials we turn to our Father and we persevere in prayer, how much closer to Him we become, there is the joy. When we stand in the midst of battle and turn to see that our Captain has come to our side to battle with us, there is the joy, for we are not alone. When we see ourselves drawn closer to heaven and able to more easily leave behind the things of this earth, there is the joy. Ultimately, in our walk we will come to the point where we will know that each trial, each struggle, each battle is for our good. We will be able to consider it PURE JOY, to face another battle for the King, knowing the end result will be our victory. Seize the battle today and enjoy closer communion with your King, and you will know pure joy.
Father, help us to seize the opportunity that You have given us. Help us to learn and grow from what You bring into our lives. Draw us closer to You through all of life’s experiences that we might know the joy of serving You and living in Your presence. Amen
