The Love of Christ
"That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge." Ephesians 3:17-19
The love of Christ is so enormous there is no measuring it; it goes way beyond human comprehension. It reaches to the deepest depths and lifts the sinner from the pit of sin. It matters not how low we have fallen; it is not so low that Christ's love cannot reach us. His loving arms will encompass us and lift us to the highest heights, restoring us to our Father. We can never fully understand Christ's love, but we can bask in it. As our roots dig deeper into the love of Christ and we begin to grow, His love will begin to flow through us. As we feel His love for us, we become grounded in love. It is what gives us our stability and keeps us from withering and dying spiritually. As Christ's love works through us, it will broaden and lengthen and deepen and heighten our capacity to love. As it does, we will taste more and more of Christ's infinite love. It will not be an intellectual love, but a love we have experienced and lived. When Christ's love is channeled through us, we are able to love even those we have formerly seen as unlovable. It is not us, but Christ in us, who is doing the loving. Indeed, this type of love goes beyond our comprehension. It is above the natural; it is Christ dwelling in our hearts.
Father; thank you for the love of Christ that passeth all our understanding! We praise you that His love reached down to the deepest depths to pull us from that miry pit called sin. We thank you for your grace and love that allowed us to be lifted to the heavens and be called your sons and daughters. We thank you for the love that Christ had for each of us that he would redeem us all by taking our place in death. We thank you for your love that was so great that you allowed your only Son to die for us. Truly this is love beyond our comprehension! Help us to understand your love and Christ's love more, as it flows through us to others. Broaden and lengthen and deepen and heighten our capacity to love as Christ loved. May we bring you glory and honor as we live a life of love! Amen.
