The Father's House
“Lord, I love the habitation of Thy House, and the place where Thy glory dwelleth.” Psalm 26:8
Worship is such a blessed privilege! The psalmist knew this and, while in exile, longed for the Father’s house and the worship he once had experienced. Once we have tasted of true worship, it will be sorely missed when it is absent from our lives. Worship changes us. We come to His courts with expectation, ready to feel His presence and to hear Him speak to us. It is in His glorious presence that we are able to put into perspective all that happens to us. We regain our focus and are pointed in the right direction once again. Worship brings us back to the very heart of God. Living a life of continual worship is like an exciting pilgrimage into the depths of God. As we worship Him more, we learn more about Him. We will feel Him with us, we will know without any doubt that we can trust Him. We will be able to go forth into the world knowing He is at our side and that He will never leave us or forsake us. His promises will be sure. This is what draws us back to His House: our love for Him, for His sanctuary, and for the place where His glory dwells.
Father, thank You for the splendors of worship! Thank You for what worship does to my heart: gives me hope and courage and conviction to move ahead in You. How I love to worship in Your house, O Lord! Thank You for that privilege; may I never take it for granted and may it always be the one place that my heart longs for! Amen
