Tender Mercies
“Remember, O LORD, your tender mercies and your loving kindness, for they are from old.” Psalm. 25:6
There is nothing new about God’s tender mercies and loving kindness. They began the moment that Adam sinned and God laid out His plan for salvation to His Son. His love for His children never wavered. He worked through the whole Old Testament, bringing His people to the point where they cried for a Messiah, and then He sent His Son to die for them. Many did not see it; they missed the most important act of the Universe when Jesus would die to redeem Adam and all mankind with him. God’s tender mercies came to fruition at the cross and they blossomed with the resurrection of Jesus. They did not end at the cross, but they were thrown out to the entire world. God’s mercies are new every morning and his faithfulness reaches to the sky. His loving kindness will never end. His love provided a way to bring mankind back to Him. He stopped at nothing to accomplish that feat, even though it cost Him His beloved Son. Yes, His tender mercies and loving kindness are from old, but they continue on today and wash over his children continually. We are so blessed to be able to call Him Abba, Father. He reaches out to us in love and will one day soon bring us home.
Father, help me to never lose sight of Your tender mercies and Your loving kindness. You have worked from the foundation of the world to bring us close to You. Help me to live in Your presence that Your tender mercies and loving kindness might be mine. Thank You for the gift of Jesus. I know it cost You more than we will ever know. Help me to live worthy of that sacrifice that I might one day come home and live in Your tender mercies forever. Amen
