Extol His Work
“Remember to extol his work, which men have praised in song.” Job 36:24
Our God is an awesome God! One needs only to take a look outside and see the wonders of the creation that surrounds us. Look at the intricate way He created the flowers. Observe the way the universe operates, in an orderly fashion. There is so much that surrounds us that would cause us to marvel at the great Creator. Beyond that, there is the way in which He works in our lives. He does amazing things through very surprising means. I am in awe of the way God causes growth in my life. He has taken me down pathways I did not want to go. He has given me experiences I would rather not have had, but in the end He has brought about growth that I could never have imagined. When I look at the scars that sin has left, I see the transformation that is only possible through my Savior. Men have praised God for generations. Moses praised a God who transformed him from a simple shepherd to a leader of the nation of Israel. David sang of God’s worth, for he knew how often God had reached down and saved him from harm. Charles Wesley was a prolific hymn writer in the 1700s and wrote over 6500 hymns of praise, among them, "Praise The Lord Who Reigns Above," where he extols,
“God, in whom they move and live,
Let every creature sing,
Glory to their Maker give,
And homage to their King.
Hallowed be thy name beneath,
As in heaven on earth adored;
Praise the Lord in every breath,
Let all things praise the Lord.”
Let each of us join these men in remembering to extol the works of our God. Let us lift up our voices in song and sing of the wonders He has performed in our lives. Let us never forget what miracles have been wrought by His hand!
God, you are an amazing God. You have performed wonders in my life. You have lifted me from the pit and caused me to bring you glory. I thank you for all that have done in my life and I praise you for all that you will accomplish in the future. Above all, I pray that my life might bring you all the praise and honor you deserve. Amen
