Taste and See that the Lord is Good
"Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him." Psalm 34:8
David knew personally that God was good; he knew it in a tangible way. The goodness of the Lord is a reality. It was real to David and it is real to us. He has offered Himself to his children. He beckons us to commune with Him, to dwell in His presence, to taste and see that He is good. The longer we dwell with Him the more sure we will be of His greatness. He will become our all: the reality will infuse our very beings. Every experience that takes place in our lives from that point on will show us that He is good. We will experience God’s goodness with all of the five senses that He gave to us. We will hear His voice call to us; guiding us and comforting us. We will see His leadings in our lives each day. We will smell the sweet perfume of His presence with us, and we will long to linger there. We will feels His loving arms surrounding us and we will bask in His love. We will taste of the sweetness of His presence and know that there is nothing sweeter in all the earth. With all of our being we will know that the Lord is good and we will be blessed beyond our wildest dreams!
Father, fill me with a longing to possess eternal things, a longing to dwell in your presence. Open my eyes that I may see Thee more clearly. Open my ears that I might hear your sweet voice calling to me. May the sweet fragrance of your many sacrifices for me linger. Let me feel your presence with me today and let me bask in your love. Enable me to taste Thee and know that Thou art good. Make heaven more real to me than any earthly thing has ever been, that I might dwell with you forever! Amen
