Fan Into Flame the Gift of God
"For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you." 2 Timothy 1:6
Before someone can fan coals into flames, there must have been an original fire built. Jesus brought a fire to our hearts when we first realized that He died to save us. It was then that we gave ourselves to him totally and the coals were placed in our hearts. When we obey and fan the coals that lie within us, a fire begins to burn and others will benefit from its warmth. The more the coals are fanned the brighter the flames will become until eventually what began as a small spark will turn into a roaring blaze which will send its sparks out into new hearts that they too might know the love of Christ.Â
Father, help us to fan the flame that Christ planted in our hearts so long ago, that we might truly become lights to the world. Let us blaze for you, Lord. Let the fire within us send forth its light and warmth to this cold, dark and dying world, that they too, might know what it means to be aglow with Jesus. Amen.
